The Architectural Dream Series is a on-going side project that records some of the wild spaces I dreamt about. I found it fascinating that my subconscious has its own definition of architecture and is capable of designing spaces without my consciousness. It is somewhat difficult to remember the spaces after waking up, but I try my best to reanimate the scenes.
Architectural Dream Series: #042120
Dream Date: April 21st, 2020 between 12am to 8am
Dream Theme/ mood: Calm
Dream started.
We were on a bus heading to a study abroad site visit.
The building was coming up to the bus and you could see it from the window on the left hand side.
There was a heavy mist outside so you couldn’t see the surroundings except the building.
The professor asked me to analyze it.
I talked about the materiality, especially the pattern on the facade.
I mentioned the overall composition since the building was like a cluster of similar massings.
In a sense, it’s like critiquing my subconscious’ design.
It’s like having an architectural dialogue with myself.
We then proceeded on foot to tour around the building.
It was like a small campus with different levels connected by stairs.
A campus entirely made out of bricks and nothing else.
It was completely silent and only us wandering around the building.
I discovered a gateway to an underground subway station.
As I walked down with two of my friends, the dream slowly transitioned into a nightmare.
I was being chased and yelled by people in various languages.
I woke up.
Dream ended.
