House of tiny spaces
Tiny Spaces 2017 Design Competition
The site is located on Boulevard Suyapa, Tegucigalpa, Honduras near the College of Civil Engineers. The neighborhood Colonia Florencia Norte, a middle-class residential area, sits on a small hill and overlooks the cityscape.
The advantages of the modular house are its flexibility and sustainability. The private and public spaces are interlaced by greenery. The design allows future expansion or customization for the residents. The structures use wooden materials that are locally produced in Honduras.
The residents are able to customize the flexible room on the second floor as they see fit. They could make it into another bedroom for guests or for children. They could also use it as a mini office or studio to work at home. Each tiny spaces is connecting intimately to each other, yet they still have total privacy due to the way they are juxtaposed and oriented around the central dining space.
